
IEPL began as Eleme Petrochemicals Company Limited (EPCL), a 100% subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). In August 2006, under the Nigerian Government's Privatization Program, Indorama Corporation became the core investor, transforming EPCL into a thriving public-private enterprise.
Indorama complex in Eleme, near Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria, was constructed in 1995, by a consortium of world’s leading Engineering and Technology giants comprising of Chiyoda, JGC & Kobe Steel of Japan, Tecnimont of Italy and Spie Batignolles of France.
